Your third strategy….have a good health and dental plan for your fighters. He thinks he is going to learn distance and timing of a karate master in a matter of weeks? Puhlease. This guy is an imbecile.

Sam Greco is a Kyokushin Karate fighter, not a wrestler.

That said, this trainer is so myopic to think he can get a good read on Machida’s timing by fighting 3-4 karate guys in his area. It takes years of discipline, patience, and training to get the sense of timing that Machida has.

Randy vs Lyoto i think Lyoto well use crawl and sprawl like chuck liddell did to both randy and tito and beat them both or just kick them in the face when they shoot i think lyoto will do that

The only way a wrestler can get him down is if he has a LIGHTING FAST shot and no one in division has it. The only guys who can do it now are probably Brock, Kos, and St. Pierre. So, IMO the wrestling argument fails because of the lack of talent. If Tompkins puts in a fighter with Machida he’ll get embarrassed just like Greg Jackson.

From seeing all his fights, it seems like Machida will never, ever stay in a clinch with a legit wrestler where both guys have an even shot at getting a takedown. In all of these situations, he has either twisted himself out of it or pushed the other guy out really fast. He will only stay in when he has the underhooks and is moving forward. In that case the takedown is guaranteed for him because of his sumo background. We saw this against both Tito and Rashad.

I’m surprised Tompkins wants to see Machida on his back. He’s been on his back vs. a wrestler: Sam Greco and a high level JJ fighter: BJ Penn.

Timing: Yes it’s one part of Machida’s strength. But for a trainer this guy is simplifying Machida too much.

His strength is transitioning from striking to takedown easily. Very few fighters do that at the same time. They either go for striking or go for a takedown not both in one go.

P4P Machida is 2nd after Fedor on my list.

Dana White wants standup fights with punching so it doesn’t matter what your strengths are. If you don’t put up an exciting fight you won’t get the fights. As for a good matchup, Anderson Silva is a big 185 and Machida is a small 205.

I think Chuck Liddel can beat Lyoto pretty easily, by knock out.

I said this before and alot off ppl disagreed with me? But in my Opinion, Wrestling only Controls the fight not Finishes it. A Good Wrestler can take the opponent down then Finish with JuJitsu or Ground and Pound. OR a Great Wrestler can Sprawl and keep the Fight Standing up and Knockout Finish with Boxing or Muah Thai, Now Karate!
I just **** some Wrestlers get take downs and DRY Hump the decision. Machida has BBJ, he is just very Well rounded n can finish the fight anywhere the fight goes!

    liddell vs machida = fail.

If chuck fought again, it shouldn’t be against a top ranked guy unless he won a few in a row and worked his way back up.
