a lifetime. mainly because BJJ doesn’t have a yellow belt.

Red (only Helio and Carlos Garcie will ever have this)
EDIT: Fred, i think your the angry one. have you been beaten by a BJJka and now your angr that 7 years of training is in vein?
try an armbar on you? i’d love to. what are you gonna do about? but armbar wouldn’t be my first choice. since BJJ is so diverse i’d D’Arce you out cold and have some big saudi guy **** your *** cause you don’t know how to defend it. what are you gonna do? punch your way out of a choke hold? yeah noone’s ever tried that…
oh… and REAL Gracie JJ, the ART that was constrcted in the 1920’s (not 1990’s. thats when martial art nuthuggers like you saw your styles gat beat on UFC) isn’t just submissions. it’s throws, strikes, weapon defense, PARALIZING neck cranks, and all the groin and eye shots you could ask for… =)
the reality is… you have about one MAYBE two strikes to knock me flat out cold before i clinch with you. all i have to do is shell up like and amateaur boxer would, and run at you and grab ahold. then i work the throws they teach us… you know Koshi Guruma, O soto Gari, O Goshi. things like that.
and you flop like salmon out of water, trying your cute little punches from off your back…. HEY maybe you’ll KO the guy mounting you, i’ve NEVER seen it happen but you neverrrr knooowwwww…………..
BJJ is a ring art, like wrestling. belts depend on the school like all martial arts. perhaps it shall take you a year and a half. you see when i trained in Goju ryu, i was only tested when i was ready. i had to tell my master when i was ready, and it took me 10 years. now im a black belt.
i try to stay away from ring sports and arts because theyaren’tt practical on the street when someones pointing a gun at me or im surrounded by a group of men.
Edit-
hey bjj ***** badely and i have fought people with it and they get knocked on their *** before thay can even take me down. try doing an armbar on me and see what happens. i take the most pure karate their is the oldest style and the most deadely at that. your crappy kenpo that you see is no match for my goju-ryu i have taken a bjj class and it was not good. it looked like i raping the opponent when you grapple and its useless. in the real world not your crappy little octogan
also i fight for self defence and you fight for submissions. your just angry because you know a true martial artist can kick your ****. and fyi wahts some gracie crap form the 1990’s have that regular jiu jitsu doesnt have? its a disgrace to the japanese arts. study real jiu jitsu or judo and you wil lsee what a real fighter can do. i hear gracie makes dvds know about how to do the moves, sounds like a crap art to me if they want to make instructional videos about the art guarenteeing success if you buy and watch their videos. wow, some legacy they left on. plus just for gags why does the abbreviation sound like blow jobs??? and also dont you have a beach party to go too mikey? i hear you get your *** kicked at them.
Edit-
you have never seen my style have you? its no good unless you use it for the right reasons.
its also nice to know that mr miyagi from the karate kid was named after the creator of my style and carate chojin Miyagi.
to ?- Yellow belt is a kids rank (under 16). In BJJ kids can’t recieve any of the belts adults get. A yellow belt is the equivalent to a blue belt for kids; however, all kids ranks are below blue belt.
to Fred- you’re 100% wrong. go try a BJJ class out before you judge it on what you heard. I think you’ll find that your ten years of Goju ryu is useless against even a BJJ white belt the second he grabs you. It’s pretty obvious from your post you have no first hand experience with a bjjer.
It depends on how fast you learn your techinques and I’m sure proving yourself in a tournament has something to do with it. Learn your technique fast, practice hard, and submit the “tough” and more experienced yellow belts in your gym. It also depends on the gym and the instructor. All you can do is train hard and try to prove yourself by showing incentive and submitting people that are a higher belt than you. Trust me your instructors will notice even if you don’t think they are. Instructors get together afterwards sometimes and talk about their fighters.
