But….what should be the first steps I take, building blocks, to make me ready for when I turn 18 or 19 and want to participate in MMA?
what would you recommend?
i’m already beginning to workout, but other than that, what else should I learn as far as fighting styles?

find a gym that specializes in MMA training, and begin training. You will not get anywhere unless your training with professional fighters, and trainers.
find a good mma gym…that’s usually how you start
idk most of the guys in ufc have been in this stuff since they were like 7 it takes a large variety of techniques and styles
look up some MMA training facilities on the internet and start learning some stuff there
Go to an MMA gym. They’ll teach you everything you need to know. Otherwise, just get physically fit. Work on endurance, flexibility, and strength.
Depends what you are into but the essentials would be [kick]boxing andor BJJ/wrestling
Just go around randomly fighting people and yell out “This is ultimate fighting *****!!!” I’m sure someone will hear of you.
that’s easy first start judo then ju jitsu after u gave mastered them both or at least got your green belt. Then you should use switch to boxing or ever kick boxing is better.
Flexability, cardio, and weights better be included in your work out. I reccomend finding a martial arts school or gym to attend. If you want things you can do at home buy this it will give you a good foundation for standing and grappling. (Chuck Liddell dvd that comes with it will be the grappling) It will also come with a Pre Fight work out routine so you know what to focus on.
If you want free online training here is a link to some BJJ techniques and Muay Thai techniques. I highly reccomend you attend classes or get a training partner with that dvd set. People who just site free things online don’t make it very far.
Look under the video on the page for other techniques first one is Thai boxing 2nd is BJJ
Vinny (answer number five), that’s not true that most start that early. Forrest Griffin for example started after he got out of college. A lot of people don’t start until their late teens or twenties. It’s never too late to start martial arts but if you want to have a shot at professional fighting like the UFC then you should start sooner rather than later but like I said, late teens and in your twenties is a good time to start because pros have done that.
to be a good fighter take alot of things. u dont have to start at a mma gym. I take kickboxing and i do well in my weight division. My MMA record right now is 4/1. Im a standing fighter that uses speed mostly
hell one of the greatest fighters in ufc started in just a single martial art then expanded into more.
Chuck Liddell started in Koei-Kan which is tattooed on the side of his head.
just find what u like n what u think u would be as a better fighter.
Highschool wrestling, it is free!!
If you can’t take someone down and defend the takedown you will get destroyed.
first go for judo techniques learn them nicely and practice then start other things see i will tell you one simple way to improve ur ability for kicking
take one bamboo or peace of wood which is round shap nad scrub ur leg(under ue knee cap which is tibia ,which is fron side of ur leg )
by scrubing wood on ur leg if u have any har on ur leg u wll see that they will fell down but do not do it too fast or too hard do not hurt urskin
by doing this u will make one layer between ur leg bone and ur skin which will help u in fghts alot just as an example when it will kepp ur leg bone somehow safe from injury
and one more thing try to concentrate on ur moves nad ur breath its so important in mma when u should breath in and when out
keep it up
boy wish u ll the best
hope one day u be good fighter
Does your school have a wrestling program?
A lot of the greats have a background in wrestling, the usual rule of thumb for a well rounded MMA fighter is.
Boxing for Stand up
Wrestling for take downs
BJJ for ground work
Good luck!
